Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) often have social deficits that can interfere with the development of meaningful and lasting relationships. Our social skills groups enrich the lives of children, adolescents and adults by providing them with a safe, supportive and engaging environment where ongoing relationships are developed. Through fun activities, individuals practice communication skills and learn functional adaptive behaviors.
We engage talented individuals and students from our community to participate in our groups to further enhance the group member’s experience. For example, local artists, musicians, dance instructors and student volunteers contribute to our groups by serving as social role models and providing group members with a variety of experiences. We also attend local community events, such as performances at the University Musical Society and Kerrytown Concert House, to help adults generalize their skills and further integrate into the community.
